Kat Lovell

Project Researcher

University of Sussex

Kat is a Research Fellow in Infrastructure and Energy Transitions at the Science Policy Research Unit (SPRU), University of Sussex. Her research centres on how established infrastructure systems develop and transform. As part of CREDS Digital Society research theme she is researching Digital Twinning in the Built Environment and its potential to shape energy demand.

Kat has an undergraduate degree in Engineering (University of Cambridge) and a PhD in Innovation Studies (Imperial College London). Since joining SPRU as a post-doctoral researcher, Kat has participated in a range of interdisciplinary research projects in energy and infrastructure. She has recently completed work on a research project examining the roles of policy actors and energy transition (O-STET), focusing on pathways and branching points for transition in heat decarbonization.

Kat co-developed the infrastructure research theme within SPRU, she is the research mobilisation lead for Innovation and Project Management and she co-created and co-convenes the MSc module: Infrastructure, Innovation and Sustainability.
