Giulia is a Research Fellow in Social Relations of Energy at the Science Policy Research Unit (SPRU) of the University of Sussex. She is examining the social and policy drivers of changes at a local level as part of the transition to net-zero carbon emissions and recovery from the Covid-19 pandemic. Giulia was awarded her PhD from Keele University, UK, and her thesis focused on a case study of the solar program of the Barefoot College (NGO) in India working on rural women’s engagement in energy technology training to promote their empowerment. She also holds an MSc in Environment and Sustainable Development from University College London. Prior to her PhD she has been working for different agencies in the fields of environment and sustainability in the UK and in India.
